You are a serious business person. You have responsibilities that other people just don't understand. And you take your office chairs seriously. They are no laughing matter to you. After all, they are ergonomic, they are functional, muti-adjustable and solid. I even saw some guys outside the office one time who had taken their chairs up the side street where was a pretty steep hill. These clowns actually used their office chairs to race down the hill. When they first started down I didn't think much of it, but as they started to pick up speed it got pretty funny. Zip, bang, boom, and down the hill they came.

For the most part, the majority of people sort of fall somewhere in between these two extremes when it comes to their views about office chairs. Most people think of them enough to make sure they are comfortable with the one they use, but most don't obsess over them. And most people certainly don't take them out for a spin on the nearest side street. But consider for a moment the value of the extremes.

On the one hand, a mature responsible view leads you to office chairs that fit your body. The ergonomics of them actually makes a lot of sense. A chair that can be adjusted to fit your body just right will not only make you a happier and more productive worker, it will also have a direct impact on your physical well-being and health. Take a quick look at how your posture is during the day. Does your chair lend itself to a good or a bad posture? Can you tilt the seat and back rest to your liking? Can you raise and lower it in relation to your desk or monitor? These and other considerations are practical and are certainly worth thinking about.

On the other hand, office chairs are not all fuddy-duddy function-shmunction. There is a whimsical side that escapes the casual observer. Think about this for a minute. What was one of the most fun things you used to do as a kid? Spin around and around, right? Well, you can do that on your office chair too! Just imagine the hours of endless delight that you and your office buds can have spinning to your heart's content.

When thinking about humor have you ever heard that the closest thing to laughter is tears? I can just picture my grandma now, hopelessly out of control, laughing so hard she was shaking, with no noise coming out but unable to stop, mouth wide open, and eyes crinkled in glee, with big crocodile tears running down her face. It's kind of odd, the two sides of humor, we laugh, we relax, we find relief, but a lot of times there is pain involved, and laughter can be redeeming, or hurtful. Sometimes the most horrible things actually turn out to be humorous.

I know that lots of little kids think farts and bathroom jokes are funny, but I thought I got over bathroom humor when I was a teenager. I was going to a wedding, I had just had a baby, and my husband and I had to drive several hours to get there. It was a challenge with a newborn, plus none of my clothes fit me. After shopping for hours, I finally found a springy green outfit I thought was perfect. I was pretty exhausted, but my baby girl with several outfits to spare, my husband, my new green suit, and I finally arrived. I thought I would change her diaper just before the service and held the baby on a blanket on the trunk of the car to change her diaper.

She pooped-not an ordinary poop-an explosive out of this world poop, I've never seen anything like it! I was covered in poop from my knees to my face. And what did I do, I didn't scream or get angry, I laughed. I couldn't stop laughing. I missed the wedding, I threw my new green suit away. I went to the formal reception in an orange tee shirt and cut off jeans while my pristine baby girl stole the limelight in her perfect white dress. Getting sprayed in poop, missing an important wedding, wasted hours and money, pretty awful, but also pretty hysterical.

I looked up a list of oxymorons, which are defined as contradictory terms put together. Some of the funniest ones are birthed through hard experience. How about friendly weapons, airline food, legally drunk, or my favorite, Microsoft Works?

Kids are always screaming, "It's not funny!" as siblings or other kids laugh at their ludicrous situations. Sometimes even as an adult I have to restrain a chuckle at the humor, when I see a youngster slip on their rear, or end up covered in goo. Watching America's Funniest Home Videos you have to laugh, but "Ouch!" often pops out in the same breath. Why is getting kicked in the crotch so incredibly painful and yet funny at the same time?

I think the intention in the humor has a lot to do with it. When people are purposely mean, or make fun of others, it may be funny but it's not fun. Being a brunette I love blond jokes. Have you heard the one about the blond who got fired from the pharmacy? She didn't put any labels on the bottles because they wouldn't fit in the typewriter! But yeah, I know blond jokes are always short because that is all brunettes can remember. Being willing to laugh at yourself, and trying not to hurt others, goes a long way to making difficult situations bearable, and often humorous.

Tea Party has Obama Complaining and Comedians Railing - Society

In fact it is not true. While no one has taken a scientific poll of the Tea Partiers it is clear from those who have spoken out on it that some of them are and, some are not. What is not so clear is just how this 'birther' movement came about. Who gave birth to the birther movement?

Many would say it is Philip Berg or World Net Daily, Orly Taitz or everyone named in the many lawsuits that have been filed to uncover Obama birth and school records. Using the KISS method of deductive reasoning the birth of the movement can be traced directly back to the President himself.

The birther movement has two distinct groups that tend to overlap. The first is those who are not satisfied with the birth certificate that was posted online and the second is those who are still waiting to see even one of the school records that to date not one American outside of school administrators has seen; birther or not.

Forgive me for resorting to common sense here since I have not seen anything either. But where in this nation can a man or women get a job, a credit rating or anything by posting a personal document online?

We don't even need to resort to common sense on the matter of Obama school records. All we need is to visit one of our nations many presidential libraries. There you will undoubtedly see the history, grade averages and special accomplishments and papers and perhaps a year book or two of each respective President in full detail.

Let's not get heavy here but, doesn't it seem that the President's willingness to withhold these records from the public is what has created the doubt, the suspicion and the very birther movement itself?

The President could silence the birthers in a New York minute by revealing the unknown but chooses to do otherwise; this is what makes his complaint a complete non sequitur. It is also what could make history if it were submitted to the Guinness Book of Records under the category of "Most obvious contradictions in American politics."

In defense of the President, along come the comedians and scoffers such as Bill Maher who after insulting Sarah Palin on the Leno show on April 2, 2010 with such a low blow that, I am almost ashamed to repeat it. Maher said, "Sarah Palin screaming about death panels? Listen, Sarah, if we were killing off useless people, you'd be the first to know." Maher hardly seems qualified to decide who is useless with comedy on this base level.

Considering this administration's position on abortion we have a lot more to be concerned about regarding what they are doing with the useful people (unborn) of this nation rather than those who might be labeled as useless.

It is interesting to note that Maher rarely makes his audiences' breakout in a full belly laugh. It is mostly applause like they are assenting to his leftist loony ideology or it is a snicker which is subdued because it is hard to look or sound real when you're openly involved in character assassination.

Maher inversely caricatured himself when he slimed the Tea Partiers by describing them as people who hang tea bags from their hats and wore founding fathers costumes. He drew applause when he said "What loons, we are going with the calm black man."

For a while commemorative coins of the Obama inauguration were being offered as a TV special. One of the selling points was Obama's "warm and friendly smile." We now have a complete picture of a man with a big smile who is very calm leading the country. Before anyone gets all gooey let's try to see how far this goes to unifying the nation or study just how this helps us to digest the most outrageous spending of any administration in U.S. history.

Alfred E. Neumann (Mad Magazine) is calm and smiling but he doesn't make policy that affects all of us. Former African American Presidential candidate Alan Keyes doesn't seem very calm but we could use a great deal more of his kind of excitement in America and it would cost a whole lot less. Bob Parks is a black man who we rarely see smiling but, he always looks calm, yet few people are calmed by his hard hitting conservative views and articles. So what is this smiling and calm thing?

Should someone tell Mr. Maher that calmness is just a nice thing but not much more? America needs fiscal responsibility, a hard look at the freewheeling attitude toward abortions and a return to respect for the voters and the Joes of this nation. We don't care if a calm man is staring back at us with a big smile if his appointees, czars and cabinet members look like a list pulled from the pages the 1930s Chicago mob reports.

Who would think that the antics and insults of a left leaning comedian in the twenty first century would lead me to recall a verse of scripture from many years gone by that fits to a tee? The writer of Jude's epistle says concerning the prevailing attitude in the last days, "In the last time there shall be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts. These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit." (Jude 19-20 NAS)

Bashing Sarah Palin is cowardly, insulting Tea Partiers is not funny and complaining about something that Obama has created himself is not Presidential.

You think she is the girl of your dreams and at first she looks at you like you are her prince, but by the end of the date, she never wants to see you again.

Was it something you did/said/wore? Yes, yes, yes, say the authors of a new book: "Undateable: 311 Things Guys Do That Guarantee They Won't Be Dating or Having Sex."

According to authors Anne Coyle and Ellen Rakieten, there are hundreds of turn offs that guys probably don't even realize they are doing.

One example the authors give is a man walking in and his date sees that he sports hair plugs. The woman tells herself she can move past that.

But then, the man opens his mouth and uses endless sports metaphors. He also wears (horror) pleated front pants, has a cell phone clipped to his belt and drinks Long Island Iced Teas. But then comes the coup de grace --- he gets up and tells the woman that he has to go take a "dump."

This is the perfect example of an undateable guy, say Coyle and Rakieten.

"We interviewed hundreds of smart, funny, normal women from all walks of life and asked them for their lists of Undateables, the things that turned a guy from a MAYBE into a NO WAY," wrote Coyle and Rakieten. "Some answers were more obvious (readjusting the "family jewels" over drinks), while others were randomly brilliant (owning a cat), and some we never saw coming (using the phrase "my lover").

"This is stuff that guys don't know because nobody tells them," Rakieten said on Good Morning America in March.On Good Morning America, the authors went looking for offenders at the ESPN Zone in Times Square.They found a guy wearing a baseball cap backward - big no-no. Is having messy hair better? He asked the authors and they both replied, "YES!"

The second guy took off his Nike sweatshirt and the women groaned. He had on a bright red tee shirt with a giant MnM character face on it.

"You're adorable, and really, truly is this what you want to say to the world?" they said. "I'm an MnM?"

The women asked the third guy if he wore a blue tooth on his ear like that all the time.

"Every day," he answered and got a big thumb down.

Then the women found two guys they said knew how to do it right: they had FLAT FRONT pants on and nice shoes.

"So what's the lesson learned?" asked the Good Morning America host. "Every frog can become a prince if they just have a little help."

So what are some other Undateable things to avoid? A man should never go shirtless unless he's at the beach, in the shower or in bed. A man's underwear or boxers should never hang out of his pants DO NOT, under any circumstances, wear that combination of too short jeans and too long shorts called Jorts. Convertible Sofa Time Machine - Home - Interior Design

I recently stayed at a friends house and had the joy of sleeping on a convertible sofa. Yes, I am being a little sarcastic about it being a "joy", but only because this sofa was from the 1970's. I believe it was still the original mattress (about 4" thick with a canoe in the middle), the type you know you are going to feel a bar in the middle of your back around 1:00 am. It was also a funny brown and orange color, something that fit very well into a 1970's family room. It was nothing like today's convertible sofas! I have slept on a new one before, and it was very comfortable. But beggars can't be choosers, I was tired from driving all day so I figured I could sleep almost anywhere.

It took me a while to find the perfect position to feel semi-comfortable, but I knew that I would be fine as long as I didn't move. I fell quickly to sleep. It couldn't have been too much later when I woke up in a panic. I felt like I had been tossed up and folded in half, and the world was dark, very dark. I couldn't move. A little disoriented, I soon realized that I had been eaten by the convertible sofa. I screamed as the sofa started to crazily spin around. Next thing I knew, I was flying through the air as the sofa unfolded and spat me out.

But where was I? It was not my friend's house, but it seemed familiar. All of a sudden, I realize it was my house from the 70's, where I had grown up. It didn't look any different, there were still a couple of dozen lilac bushes in the back yard in full bloom, spring time. I walked a couple of blocks down the road to my old elementary school, and it looked like a special day. I walked inside, and sure enough I knew exactly when it was, 1976 school bicentennial celebration. I soon found my younger self, 8 years old, 2nd grade and dressed up as a bicentennial coin. Underneath the clap board I was wearing my yellow Mork from Ork tee shirt, Nanu-nanu. Too weird! I quickly returned to my old house, laid down on the convertible sofa, closed my eyes and tried to convince myself that it is just a dream.

Suddenly, I was again tossed up, folded up and in the very dark place, spinning around like crazy and screaming. Before I could take a second breath I was kicked out and flying through the air. I landed on my feet right by my old Junior High, meaning it was about 1982. I lived in Germany during those years, and styles may have been a little different than State side. The jeans were very tight and peg leg, tough to pull them over your ankle and to button up as well. Thank goodness leg warmers were not as popular overseas, but they were still seen occasionally. I also refused to feather my hair, but I am really glad to say that I grew up in the 1980's.

I jumped back onto the convertible sofa time machine and waited to see where I would go next. But nothing happened. I lay there waiting, I may have enjoyed the 1980's but I didn't want to relive them again. I must have fallen asleep because next thing I knew it was morning and I awoke at my friends house with something poking me in the back. What a strange dream, I thought as I looked down and saw a purple lilac laying by my pillow.
